The Police Sector (Polsek) Babat of Lamongan Police Resort apprehended a group of youths who conducted a sahur wake-up patrol using a high-powered sound system, locally known as “sound horeg.”

Deputy Chief of Public Relations for Lamongan Police Resort, Ipda M Hamzaid, stated that the incident occurred on Saturday (7/3) at 01.30 WIB. A convoy of youths passed through the area pushing a cart containing loud sound system equipment.

“The youths passed in front of Babat Police Sector whilst carrying a sound system mounted on a pushcart or gledekan,” said Hamzaid on Monday (9/3).

The convoy was also accompanied by several other youths riding motorcycles behind it.

The loud blaring music was deemed to have disturbed the comfort of residents who were resting.

“Officers at the location immediately halted and apprehended the youths for data collection and further guidance,” he said.

Based on police records, one of the youths apprehended, identified as BS, is a resident of Mandungan Village, Widang District, Tuban Regency.

As a follow-up, the Babat Police Sector commander plans to conduct guidance sessions with the youths by summoning the Mandungan Village Head to provide a deterrent effect.

In this operation, police confiscated evidence in the form of one Polytron-brand amplifier unit and a pushcart used to transport the equipment.

He also appealed to the public to maintain public order during the holy month of Ramadan. He emphasised that the tradition of conducting sahur wake-up calls should be done in a courteous manner without infringing on the rights of other residents.

“We urge the public, particularly young people, to engage in positive activities during Ramadan and refrain from conducting sahur patrols with sound systems or vehicle convoys that may disturb other residents,” he said.
