Youth in Cilincing shot for failing to pay during cannabis transaction
Jakarta – A man identified as SH, aged 23, was shot with an airsoft gun by a group of individuals after purchasing fried rice on Jalan Tipar Cakung Gang Kompi Jenggot, Sukapura Village, Cilincing District, North Jakarta, on Sunday evening (8 March).
According to the head of Cilincing Sector Police, AKP Bobi Subasri, the victim had previously incurred a debt related to purchasing cannabis from one of the perpetrators’ group members.
“The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his right leg, lower back on the right side, and left knee,” Bobi said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Police stated that the victim was allegedly shot after resisting whilst being attacked by a perpetrator identified as F and several of his associates at the incident location.
Based on the victim’s account, the altercation between him and the perpetrators’ group was allegedly triggered by a debt dispute of Rp800,000 relating to the purchase of cannabis from one of the group members.
“We are still investigating this case by requesting statements from a number of witnesses,” Bobi said.
Previously, Cilincing Police Sector received a report through the emergency hotline 110 regarding an alleged perpetrator carrying a firearm who was apprehended by residents on Jalan Tipar Cakung, Cilincing, on Sunday (8 March).
Officers attended the incident location following a public report concerning the apprehension of a man allegedly involved in the shooting incident.
The perpetrator identified as F was a resident of Warakas, Tanjung Priok, who used an airsoft gun of Glock 19 type with five rounds of ammunition.
The victim was then pulled by one of the perpetrator’s associates and immediately attacked at the incident location.
When the victim attempted to resist the assault, the perpetrator drew the airsoft gun and fired it at the victim.
After the airsoft gun ammunition was depleted, nearby residents immediately apprehended the perpetrator and subjected him to vigilante justice.
Shortly thereafter, someone claiming to be a family member of the perpetrator brought F to Koja General Hospital for medical treatment.
However, when officers from the Criminal Investigation Unit of Cilincing Police Sector arrived at the hospital for questioning, the perpetrator was no longer present.
Police are continuing further investigations to identify and pursue other perpetrators allegedly involved in the shooting incident.
