Youth chief suspended
YOGYAKARTA: The local chairman of the National Youth Committee, Khairul Muhajir, has been suspended from his post pending an investigation into allegations of embezzlement, Antara reported.
Two members of the youth organization's Central Executive Board, Ruhut Sitompoel and M. Syafri, told reporters that the decision was made to facilitate the investigation of the allegations against Khairul.
Khairul himself had already tendered his resignation in the wake of the scandal over a cattle project in the Bantul regency. The youth committee's board refused to accept his resignation, however, and simply suspended him.
Ruhut and Syafri said the central board has asked the Yogyakarta office to name an acting chairman to fill Khairul's seat until the investigation has been concluded. (emb)
