Youth Arrested for Stealing Motorcycle Left Unlocked in Jembrana

The Quick Reaction Unit (URC) Kurawa of the Jembrana Police Criminal Investigation Department has arrested a suspected motorcycle theft perpetrator with the initials MD (21). The suspect was apprehended only a few hours after stealing a motorcycle belonging to a resident in Negara District.

The theft was suffered by Supriono, a resident of Banjar Air Anakan, Banyubiru Village, on Friday (28/8/2026). The victim realised that his Yamaha V 110 motorcycle, which had been parked on the terrace of his house, had disappeared at around 06.00 WITA.

After asking neighbours without success, the victim decided to report the incident to the Jembrana Police at 08.00 WITA. As a result of the incident, the victim suffered material losses of around Rp 10 million.

The Head of Criminal Investigation at Jembrana Police, AKP I Gede Alit Darmana, immediately deployed personnel from Unit 1 of the General Crimes Division to pursue the perpetrator.

“The team immediately carried out measured tracking based on the results of the investigation and statements from witnesses who had seen an unknown person passing by carrying the victim’s motorcycle,” Alit said when confirmed by detikBali on Friday (28/8/2026).

In carrying out his action, the perpetrator took advantage of the victim’s negligence. MD stole the vehicle by guiding and pushing the victim’s motorcycle, which happened to be in an unlocked handlebar condition.

“Our members then tracked down and arrested MD at his residence in the Banyubiru area without resistance. We also seized evidence in the form of one unit of the victim’s motorcycle with registration number DK 6235 WF,” Alit explained.

Currently, MD along with the evidence has been taken to the Jembrana Police Headquarters. Police are still deepening their examination of MD to investigate the potential involvement of other perpetrators.

“We urge the public to always be vigilant. Do not leave motorcycles with the key in the ignition, and if you find an urgent situation, contact us at 110,” Alit concluded.
