Younger Sibling Who Fatally Struck Older Sibling with Hammer in North Jakarta to Undergo Psychiatric Evaluation

The case involving MAH (16), who struck his older brother, MAR (21), on the head with a hammer, resulting in his death in Kelapa Gading Utara, Kelapa Gading District, North Jakarta, is still under investigation. The perpetrator will undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

“Yes, a psychiatric evaluation. It will be conducted at a hospital,” said Kompol Ni Luh Sri Arsini, Head of the PPA-PPO Unit at the North Jakarta Metro Police, on Thursday (February 26, 2026).

The psychiatric evaluation is scheduled to take place today. The family requested that it be done today because it was already late last night to conduct the examination.

“As part of the process today, we will conduct the psychiatric evaluation. Initially, we planned to do it last night, but the family requested that it be done today because it was already late,” she said.

Previously, the police revealed the motive behind MAH striking his older brother on the head with a hammer, resulting in his death. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday (February 24), was triggered by the victim’s personal belongings being left in the perpetrator’s room.

“The trigger was that the older brother had placed some personal belongings in the younger brother’s room, such as toiletries and towels,” said Ni Luh Sri Arsini.

The mother had reprimanded the victim for leaving his belongings there. However, the victim did not immediately respond, which annoyed the perpetrator.

“The older brother did not immediately move the items. When the mother reprimanded him, the older brother’s response was nonchalant, which upset the younger sibling,” she said.

The perpetrator then took a hammer from the kitchen and struck his older brother on the head while he was feeding the animals.

“That was the trigger that made him very angry. He then took a hammer from the kitchen and struck his older brother on the head while the older brother was feeding the animals,” she added.
