Younger Sibling Strikes Older Sibling with Hammer, Causing Death in Kelapa Gading

A younger sibling, MAH (16), has been arrested for allegedly striking his older brother on the head with a hammer, causing his death in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

The Head of the Child and Family Protection Unit (PPA) of the North Jakarta Metro Police, Commissioner Ni Luh Sri Arsini, stated that they are currently investigating the case, including the motive behind the perpetrator’s actions.

“We are still conducting an investigation and delving into the actual motive of the perpetrator to understand how they could commit such a heinous act against their own brother, MAR (22),” Sri told reporters on Wednesday (February 25).

Sri said that the incident was reported to the authorities on Tuesday (February 24). After the incident, the victim’s body was taken to a hospital for an autopsy.

From the preliminary investigation, it is suspected that the incident was triggered by family problems. The perpetrator is believed to have been jealous of the victim because he often received attention from their parents.

“Their mother runs a business outside the home, and their father lives separately from them. The victim is still undergoing an autopsy, and the results have not yet been released,” she said.
