Young snappers display city scenes

JAKARTA (JP): Five young photographers are displaying works revealing the capital's many facets in a three-week long exhibition which opened last night at Antara's Press Photography Gallery on Jl. Antara No. 59 in Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta.

Ali Indra Gunawan, Nonot Suryo Utomo, Noffal Hidayat, Imelda Stefanny and Maya Sofia, all of whom are former participants in a workshop held by the gallery, are displaying 140 photographs from their portfolios, most of which depict the lesser known sides of the capital.

Among the pictures on display are images of the city's appalling public toilets, crowded rented rooms, houses for the blind and serene mosques.

The exhibition, which is entitled Kota Kita: Interior Jakarta (Our City: the Interior of Jakarta), lasts until Oct. 27. (ivy)
