Young People in Regions Have Equal Opportunities in Digital Creative Industry

The Indonesian creative industry is no longer dominated by creators living in big cities. The presence of equitable internet access has changed this pattern, providing relatively equal opportunities for anyone to produce work and reach a national audience from wherever they are.

This is the opportunity seized by Falintino, a young man from Sambas, West Kalimantan. Through his YouTube channel and TikTok account @aprilfullskin, he gradually built his audience and digital community from his home region, without feeling the need to move to the capital to start a career in the creative world.

For Falintino, the availability of digital infrastructure today means geographical location is no longer a major barrier to creating. “In the past, many assumed that to succeed in the creative industry, you had to be in a city centre. Now, the internet allows us to produce quality work from anywhere, including from the regions,” Falintino said in a written statement received by Republika on Monday (29/6/2026).

Building an audience from a region certainly requires a process that is not instant. Falintino’s achievement of growing his YouTube channel to surpass 120,000 subscribers is the result of long-term perseverance in understanding viewer preferences and maintaining productivity.

Amidst the tight competition on digital platforms, he believes a creator’s endurance is tested by their ability to continuously adapt and present content that has value for society. “The creative world is very dynamic. The key is patience and continuous learning. If we consistently provide positive value through our work, the audience will definitely see it,” he said.
