A total of 1,001 women wearing red headscarves, members of the Emak Muda Bersatu (United Young Mothers) group, staged a peaceful rally at the National Monument (Monas) area on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan on Monday, presenting eight key demands. “We are a group of young mothers who care about the future of our children, families, and the Indonesian nation,” said field coordinator Dewi during her speech in Jakarta.

Dewi outlined the eight points conveyed during the action. The first was urging the acceleration of the deliberation and ratification of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme Bill. “We support the MBG programme because it concerns the future of Indonesia’s generation. This programme must have a strong legal foundation so its implementation can be improved, better targeted, and sustainable,” Dewi asserted.

The second point demanded firm action against corruptors. According to Dewi, the people have waited too long for decisive measures against those who steal state funds. “The stolen state money must be returned for the people’s benefit, not just the perpetrators punished,” she said. The third point expressed support for the Red and White Cooperative programme, which the group hopes can become a vehicle for ordinary citizens, micro, small, and medium enterprises, farmers, fishermen, and housewives to improve their families’ economic welfare.

The fourth point was support for the Sekolah Rakyat (People’s Schools) programme, noting that many children from underprivileged families still need access to proper education. “We support this programme so that more Indonesian children get the opportunity to learn and achieve a better future,” Dewi stated. The fifth point called for accelerating national food security and National Strategic Projects, as Dewi believes food availability and infrastructure development are essential for Indonesia’s future.

Regarding differing viewpoints, Dewi stressed that such differences must not divide the brotherhood among fellow Indonesians, as the nation requires unity to continue progressing. The seventh point urged President Prabowo Subianto to evaluate ministers and deputy ministers who have not demonstrated maximum performance. “Good programmes require good implementers. Therefore, officials who cannot work according to the people’s expectations must be evaluated and replaced,” Dewi declared.

The eighth and final point expressed support for the continued leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. “We believe that the various ongoing programmes need the opportunity to be continued and perfected for the people’s welfare,” Dewi added. She further stated that through this peaceful rally, the group wanted to convey that young mothers not only take care of their families but also care about the direction of the nation’s development. “We hope the government hears the people’s voice and continues to accelerate programmes that provide real benefits to the community,” Dewi concluded.
