Young Man Shot with Airsoft Gun Over 800,000 Rupiah Cannabis Debt in Jakarta

JAKARTA — A man identified as SH, aged 23, was shot with an airsoft gun by a group of individuals in Cilincing, North Jakarta, on Sunday, 8 March 2026 in the evening.

He was shot after purchasing nasi goreng on Tipar Cakung Street, Cilincing. According to the head of Cilincing Police Sector, Senior Police Officer Bobi Subasri, the victim had previously owed money to one member of the perpetrator group related to a cannabis purchase.

The victim is believed to have been shot after resisting when attacked by the group led by an individual identified as F and several associates at the scene. Based on the victim’s account, the altercation between him and the perpetrator group was allegedly triggered by a debt of 800,000 rupiah related to the cannabis purchase.

“This case is still being investigated as we gather statements from several witnesses,” said Bobi.

Previously, Cilincing Police Sector received an emergency report through the 110 emergency line regarding a suspect allegedly carrying a firearm who was apprehended by residents on Tipar Cakung Street, Cilincing. Officers subsequently attended the scene after receiving a report from the public about the detention of a man allegedly involved in the shooting incident.
