Young Man in West Jakarta Arrested by Police After Extorting Teenager Using Obscene Content

Police arrested a man with initials FM (21) in Kembangan, West Jakarta, following his extortion of a teenager using obscene content.

The Robbery and Violent Crime Subdivision of the Criminal Investigation Unit, East Java Metro Police successfully uncovered a case of extortion and distribution of obscene content targeting a teenage girl in the Cengkareng area of West Jakarta, according to a statement from the @resmob_pmj Instagram account published on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

The incident began when the perpetrator terrorised the victim through short messages. The perpetrator threatened to distribute the victim’s sensitive photos and videos.

“Although the victim had sent ransom money as requested, the perpetrator cruelly distributed the content to acquaintances and the victim’s family members,” the statement read.

The victim subsequently reported the incident to police. Upon receiving the report, investigators conducted an inquiry and successfully apprehended the perpetrator at his residence.

“On Monday, 23 February 2026, officers arrested the main perpetrator. In the presence of officers, the man admitted to all his actions as the mastermind behind the intimidation, extortion, and distribution of obscene content that befell the victim,” the statement said.

During the arrest, police secured evidence in the form of a mobile phone used for extorting the victim. The perpetrator and the evidence were brought to the police office for further investigation.

“For his actions, the perpetrator is charged under Article 483 of the Criminal Code regarding defamation with the threat of disclosing secrets for the purpose of extortion and Article 407 regarding pornography, with a maximum prison sentence of 10 years,” the statement concluded.
