Young Man Held Captive in East Jakarta Motorcycle Showroom Over Two-Month Payment Arrears
A young man named Rizky Nur Aldriansyah (29) became a victim of unlawful confinement and assault at a motorcycle showroom in the Cakung area, East Jakarta, following arrears in vehicle instalments. In connection with this case, police have arrested two perpetrators, identified as AB and R.
The investigation began after the victim’s parents filed a report via the ‘Bang Resmob’ WhatsApp hotline on Thursday (14/5). Following the report, a team immediately proceeded to the location to conduct an investigation.
“We successfully located the victim, who was being held captive on the second floor,” stated the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Kombes Arsundari Khadafi, in a statement on Monday (18/5).
In addition to rescuing the victim, Arsya noted that the police also managed to apprehend two suspects, AB and R. “The two suspected perpetrators have been secured to undergo further legal proceedings,” he said.
From preliminary investigations, Arsya revealed that the incident was triggered by the victim’s failure to pay motorcycle instalments for two months. “It is a matter of debt regarding a motorcycle purchase. The victim purchased a PCX worth approximately Rp30 million through the showroom and fell two months behind on payments,” Arsara explained.
Arsya further explained that the victim was required to pay monthly instalments of Rp1,670,000. Due to the two-month arrears, the total outstanding amount reached Rp3,340,000. Based on this dispute, the victim was abducted by the perpetrators and held captive on the second floor of the showroom for two days before being rescued.
“He was held captive for two days, and yes, the victim was assaulted during the confinement,” Arsya added.
Following the operation, police seized several pieces of evidence, including three mobile phones belonging to the perpetrators and a written statement. Currently, the victim, the two suspects, and the evidence have been handed over to the Cakung Sector Police, East Jakarta Metro Police, for further processing. The perpetrators face charges under Articles 450, 451, and/or 262 of Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the Criminal Code.
