Young man arrested for raping underage girl in West Jakarta

West Jakarta Police arrested a 20-year-old man, AR, suspected of raping an underage girl in Tambora, West Jakarta. The incident came to light after the victim’s parents reported it to the authorities. Kompol Nunu Suparmi, Head of the Child Protection and Women’s Affairs Unit of West Jakarta Metro Police, stated the crime occurred on Saturday, 23 May 2026. Police then gathered evidence and witness statements. “Alongside legal proceedings against the suspect, the victim has received psychological support and appropriate procedural handling,” Nunu told reporters on Sunday, 31 June 2026. The assault took place at the suspect’s residence, where he restrained the victim’s hands as she attempted to scream for help. Nunu added that the case is being handled with a focus on child protection and victim recovery. The suspect faces charges under Article 473(2)(b) of the 2023 Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP). “We ensure all case handling is conducted professionally, prioritising victim protection,” he said.
