Founder of Pemuda Panca Marga and initiator of the Forum Silaturahmi Anak Bangsa (FSAB), Joesoef Faisal Husainsyah, has reminded the young generation to be wary of various forms of foreign interests that could influence their views on the nation and state. He assessed that a weak understanding of history makes some young people easily trapped in global narratives that may not align with national interests. Therefore, understanding the nation’s struggle history, including the role of the TNI, is crucial. The current phenomenon is that young people and human rights activists could become public enemies, as they are seen to often disrupt national stability. “The current young generation is largely lacking in historical knowledge. They must learn from the process of establishing this country and understand the role of the TNI. Do not become foreign agents voicing hidden interests,” Joesoef stressed. He also warned that Indonesia should not get trapped in conflict scenarios like those in countries such as Iraq, Libya, Syria, Palestine, and Iran, which have experienced instability due to interventions and global dynamics. “Do we want Indonesia to suffer the same fate? This must serve as a warning. If this nation is torn apart by foreign interference, all parties must take responsibility,” he stated. According to him, some student groups and NGOs are seen to often champion human rights issues without fully considering national interests. He emphasised the importance of placing national interests above others. “The principle is clear: right or wrong, it’s my country. We maintain what is good, improve what is lacking, rather than undermining our own nation,” he added. Joesoef also highlighted public concerns over the proliferation of demonstrations that are seen to disrupt social and economic stability. “The public wants a peaceful life, to work, and earn a living. Stability is important,” he said. Furthermore, he expressed concern over narratives that are seen to corner the TNI institution. According to him, the TNI’s role as guardian of sovereignty and protector of the people cannot be ignored just because of certain cases. “I am saddened to see the TNI being cornered. The military is the people’s fighters, by the people, for the people. The sacrifices of soldiers, including in world peacekeeping missions, are real proof of dedication,” he stated.
