Young Engineers Forum PII and ULM Strengthen Engineering Human Resources in South Kalimantan
The Young Engineers Forum (FIM) of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) for the South Kalimantan region, in collaboration with Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a strategic step towards developing education, research, community service, and the enhancement of engineering professional competence in the region.
The Chairman of FIM PII South Kalimantan, Nanang Elva Julianoor Putra, stated that this cooperation represents a shared commitment to building a stronger engineering ecosystem through synergy between academia and professional organisations. He emphasised that this collaboration is an initial step towards building a partnership oriented towards real action, aiming to introduce programmes that increase the capacity of students, lecturers, and young engineers to meet the needs of both regional and national development.
According to Putra, the challenges of development in the era of digital transformation, climate change, and accelerated infrastructure development require engineers who possess not only technical skills but also the ability to innovate, collaborate, and uphold professional ethics. Through this partnership, both institutions will develop various joint programmes, including national seminars, public lectures, training, workshops, collaborative research, community service, student coaching, and professional competence enhancement, supporting the implementation of the ‘Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi’ (the three pillars of higher education).
Lambung Mangkurat University welcomed the collaboration, noting that synergy between universities and professional organisations is a strategic step in preparing graduates who are academically excellent and ready for the dynamics of the workforce and technological advancements. Beyond human resource development, the partnership is expected to foster innovations that contribute to sustainable development, particularly in South Kalimantan.
FIM PII South Kalimantan and ULM are committed to immediately following up on the MoU through various implementable programmes so that the benefits can be directly felt by students, academics, practitioners, and the wider community. Both institutions are optimistic that this strategic partnership will produce a generation of professional, adaptive, and high-integrity engineers capable of driving Indonesia’s development towards a sustainable future.
