Young apprentices prepare for Japan
BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Dozens of local youths will
soon go to Lembang, West Java, for three months of training,
which will include a Japanese language course, before leaving for
Japan on an apprenticeship program.
Spokesman of the local office of the Ministry of Manpower
Bahruddin Noor told Antara yesterday that the 28 youths are the
first to join the program set up recently by the government in
cooperation with several Japanese companies.
Most of the apprentices-to-be are local senior high school
graduates. "Hopefully they will act as Oriental people do: be
gentle, guard the image of the country, and be cooperative,"
Bahruddin said. (swe)
