You Don’t Need to Do Heavy Exercise: An Effective Way to Maintain Your Immunity
Strengthening the immune system is no longer seen as a choice but a fundamental need. Health experts emphasise that the key to a robust immunity lies in daily lifestyle, particularly through nutritional interventions and measured physical activity. The lead researcher of HDI Propoelix™ Dr H Harli Amir Mahmudji, Sp.PD-KEMD, said that adopting a healthy and nutritious eating pattern alongside regular exercise is the key to boosting the body’s immunity, according to the researchers. ‘Nutritious food is individual, highly dependent on each person’s body condition,’ Harli said at the press conference on the clinical trial results of the Propoelix supplement in Central Jakarta, on Saturday (7/3/2026). He noted that nutritional needs can differ according to age and physical condition. Children require protein and nutrients supporting growth; adolescents and adults must adjust protein and fat intake according to metabolic needs; and the elderly require nutrients to maintain muscle mass and bone health. Harli said regular exercise is also important to maintaining immunity. According to him, simple physical activities such as walking or light jogging for 30 minutes a day, five days a week, are sufficient to strengthen the body’s immune system. ‘Not heavy exercise like that performed by professional athletes, but physical activity that is consistent and within one’s abilities,’ he said. Exercise can enhance white blood cell responses to acute infection and help maintain the balance of the immune system. Harli emphasised that supplement products such as Propoelix™ act only as complementary therapy or adjuvant, not a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. According to him, the supplement can support the readiness of white blood cells to face acute infection. A 30-day clinical study in office workers showed that administering the supplement could increase the acute-phase white blood cell profile without increasing inflammation.
