Yoseph Paskalis Officially Leads Hanura's South Papua Branch, Preparing for 2029 Elections
The Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Hanura Party inaugurated the officials of the South Papua Provincial Board (DPD) for the 2026-2030 period at the Merauke Sports Hall in South Papua on Wednesday evening, 15 April 2026. The inauguration ceremony was led by the Deputy General Chairman (Waketum) of the DPP Hanura, Akhmad Muqowam, and attended by thousands of cadres and officials from Hanura South Papua.
Deputy Secretary General (Wasekjen) of the DPP Hanura, Zulhendri Chaniago, stated that the Regional Congress (Musda) of the DPD Hanura South Papua had elected and appointed Yoseph M Paskalis as Chairman of the DPD Hanura South Papua for the 2026-2030 period. According to him, Yoseph was elected by acclamation, simultaneously concluding the series of Musda for Hanura in the Land of Papua.
“Appointing and deciding the Chairman of the DPD Hanura Province of South Papua, Yoseph M Paskalis; Secretary Mohammad Exan Daud; Treasurer Duddy Sutisrayudhi,” said Zulhendri, reading out the Decree (SK) on the composition of the DPD Hanura South Papua at the Merauke Sports Hall, South Papua, on Wednesday evening, 15 April 2026.
Subsequently, the Deputy General Chairman of the DPP Hanura, Akhmad Muqowam, led the reading of the inauguration oath and handed over the party flag to the elected Chairman of the DPD Hanura South Papua, Yoseph M Paskalis.
In his speech, Yoseph said that his side is ready to carry out the mandate given and will work as hard as possible for the progress of the region in line with the party’s tagline, “Empowered Regions, Prosperous Indonesia”.
“I was not born into a great family. But I am ready to give my best for Hanura and the region. Let us build together, there may be different opinions, but let us all be responsible together,” he stated.
Yoseph believes that the solidarity and loyalty of all cadres will make Hanura a major party in South Papua. He asked all cadres to make Hanura the “Big House” for all elements of society in South Papua.
“South Papua is the home of all communities. We will make the Hanura Party the host in South Papua,” he affirmed.
Furthermore, Yoseph said that the DPD Hanura South Papua will immediately carry out consolidation to improve the organisational structure down to the district and village levels. His side has set a work plan and a deadline for achieving those targets.
“We will fulfil the verification to become participants in the 2029 Elections. Our future targets are two seats in the RI DPR, three seats in the provincial DPR, and placing three cadres in all DPRs at the regency and city levels,” he added.
