Yogyakarta-Solo Toll Road to Open Next Week
PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk., the toll road operator, will operationalise the Yogyakarta-Solo toll road functionally during the Eid exodus period from 16-29 March 2026. Ahmad Izzi, Senior Expert in General Affairs at the Public Relations and Administration Division of Jasa Marga’s Yogyakarta-Solo Toll Road Agency, stated that the road will only operate between 06:00 and 18:00 WIB.
“This operation will be determined by field conditions; for example, if the police consider the congestion excessive, it can be closed,” he said when met at the Purwomartani Toll Gate in Kalasan, Sleman Regency, on Friday, 13 March 2026.
Izzi stated that this 11.22-kilometre functional toll road can only be traversed from Yogyakarta towards Solo, Jakarta, and Surabaya. Users must enter through the Purwomartani Toll Gate in Sleman Regency. For traffic from the opposite direction or from Jakarta towards Yogyakarta City, drivers must exit through the Prambanan Toll Gate in Klaten Regency.
Jasa Marga predicts the functional Yogyakarta-Solo toll will serve approximately 17,000 vehicles per day, an increase from 14,000 vehicles per day during last year’s Eid exodus.
“In terms of average traffic, that’s already 3-4 times higher than normal traffic,” Izzi said.
The travel time from Purwomartani Toll Gate to Prambanan via the functional Yogyakarta-Solo toll is approximately 15 minutes, compared to around 30 minutes via the non-toll national road.
Izzi appealed to toll users to maintain a maximum speed of 40 kilometres per hour. The functional toll still has shortcomings and is not fully ready for normal operations, as several sections remain under construction.
The toll will be free of charge during its limited operational period. “This is also exclusively for Class I vehicles, small vehicles, and bus classes. Only these vehicles can use it,” he stated.
Jasa Marga will deploy additional field personnel for security patrols on the toll road. Tow trucks and patrol vehicles will also be available at several locations.
