REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The Yogyakarta City Government has received a sacrificial animal donation from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah. The animal will be slaughtered in the area along the Code River, specifically in Kampung Gemblakan Bawah, Yogyakarta City, and the meat will be distributed to local residents.

The Head of the Agriculture and Food Service (DPP) of Yogyakarta City, Sukidi, stated that the sacrificial animal donation from the President had been confirmed through the Social Welfare Section (Kesra) of the Yogyakarta City Regional Secretariat. “There is one sacrificial animal donated by the President for Yogyakarta City,” said Sukidi in a statement on Sunday (17/5/2026).

Sukidi stated that the type of cattle to be slaughtered in Yogyakarta City is Simmental Limousin, with a weight of approximately 600 kilograms. The President’s donated animal has specific criteria, including weight, health, and price.

“There were cattle from breeders in Yogyakarta City that met the President’s criteria, but they had already been sold,” he said.

“One of the requirements is that the weight must be at least 600 kilograms or more,” he added.

He mentioned that the selection of the location was done directly by the Mayor of Yogyakarta, Hasto Wardoyo, with a focus on helping residents living along the riverbanks. Regarding the distribution of sacrificial meat, the Yogyakarta City Government ensures that it will be felt by the community living in the riverbank area.

“The distribution of meat will target residents there,” he said.
