Yogyakarta hotel occupancy at 80% ahead of 2026 Eid al-Adha long weekend
Yogyakarta hotel occupancy has reached 80% ahead of the 2026 Eid al-Adha long weekend starting Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
PHRI Chairman Deddy Pranowo Eryono stated that average hotel occupancy rates during long weekends in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) typically range between 60% and 80%.
“Occupancy is good, but production costs are rising, so revenue is barely breaking even. Alhamdulillah, occupancy is decent given the current situation where production costs keep increasing,” Deddy said on Monday, 25 May 2026.
“Consumer purchasing power has declined, and hotels use dynamic pricing, so we must assess the current conditions,” he added.
Deddy noted that the rupiah’s weakening against the dollar has both positive and negative aspects.
The positive side is that foreign tourists exchanging dollars for rupiah receive more local currency, boosting their spending potential.
“Those planning overseas trips are postponing and shifting to domestic tourism in Indonesia,” he said.
This opportunity, he continued, must be seized by the government and tourism businesses.
“Yogyakarta and Bali are top choices for these tourists, and we must capitalise on this while ensuring packages aren’t overly expensive,” he added.
