Yogyakarta City Government Receives 182 Complaints of Alleged Abuse at Little Aresha Daycare

The Technical Implementation Unit for Women’s and Children’s Protection (UPT PPA) of Yogyakarta City has reported receiving hundreds of complaints related to the case of alleged violence and neglect at Little Aresha Daycare. “As of today, we have received 182 complaints,” said the Head of UPT PPA Yogyakarta City, Udiyati Ardiani, to reporters at the Yogyakarta City Hall on Wednesday (6/5/2026). Ardiani continued that out of the 182 complaints, the City UPT PPA has conducted assessments for 130 individuals. The remainder are set to receive legal assistance from the Yogyakarta City Government. “Out of the 182, we have assessed around 130 parents. Then, approximately 40-50 people are preparing for legal proceedings, and today we are preparing power of attorney documents for them,” she stated. Therefore, Ardiani hopes that the 130 parents will utilise the assistance from the Yogyakarta City Government. This is because today the City Government has gathered them and explained the legal steps to be taken. “For those 50 people, we are opening the doors today. We hope these parents understand the follow-up assistance process and that they can file complaints accompanied by the legal team,” she said. “So this is perhaps just the beginning; for those who have not yet filed complaints or received legal assistance, we are opening our doors,” Ardiani added. Regarding the types of complaints received by the Yogyakarta City UPT PPA, Ardiani mentioned they concern allegations of violence against children who were once cared for at Little Aresha. “The complaints are about the alleged violence experienced by their children, both those who have graduated and those who were there during yesterday’s raid,” she said.
