Yogyakarta City Government Proposes 36 CPNS Positions for 2026, Exclusively for Teachers and Healthcare Workers
The Yogyakarta City Government (Pemkot Jogja) has proposed 36 positions for prospective civil servants (CPNS) in 2026. These positions are open only to education personnel or teachers and healthcare workers (nakes).
The Head of the Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM) of Yogyakarta City, Sarwanto, stated that his agency had submitted this proposal to the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Kemenpan-RB) last March.
“At the latest by 31 March, we had already sent the proposal to the Minister of PAN-RB. We proposed 36 positions, focusing only on our priorities,” Sarwanto explained when met by detikJogja after attending an event in Yogyakarta City on Wednesday (15/4/2026).
“The prioritised positions are just the basic needs of the community, in line with the central government’s directives. What we submitted yesterday were education personnel, teachers, and healthcare workers. Just those two; we are not opening technical positions. We proposed 24 for education personnel and 12 for healthcare,” he added.
Nevertheless, Sarwanto noted that the figure is still awaiting verification from Kemenpan-RB. He said the chances of the number of positions being approved depend on Kemenpan-RB.
“Well, it will still be verified by the central government; it could be approved for 10 or 15, we don’t know. Usually, it’s like that; if you propose 100, you might get 50 or 25, that’s how it is every year,” Sarwanto said.
Sarwanto explained that the number of positions proposed by Pemkot Jogja takes into account budget efficiency. In addition to boosting Local Own-Source Revenue (PAD), Pemkot Jogja is also striving to reduce personnel expenditure, which is quite substantial.
“Coincidentally, we are fighting to reduce the burden of personnel expenditure. We can do this with the minus growth system; 271 (civil servants) retiring this year, but we only proposed 36 positions—that’s minus growth,” Sarwanto elaborated.
“So, we are reducing personnel expenditure not by laying off PPPK, like in other regions where they do layoffs to quickly cut personnel spending; we don’t,” he continued.
In addition, Sarwanto said that PPPK still have the opportunity to join CPNS this year.
“There are CPNS pathways through general recruitment and PPPK, so PPPK colleagues who meet the requirements can apply, or there could be specific positions for PPPK, which we will open later,” he concluded.
