Yogyakarta City Government has intensified enforcement of a curfew for minors to curb klitih, student brawls, and public disorder. Children under 18 must remain at home from 10pm to 4am WIB, except for specific permitted purposes. The curfew policy is outlined in Mayor Regulation No. 49 of 2022. Mayor Hasto Wardoyo confirmed coordination with the police to tighten surveillance of minors congregating outdoors after dark. “After 10pm, we conduct raids because minors lingering pose a high risk,” he said recently. According to Hasto, the raids are a preventive measure against street crimes known locally as klitih. He stated discussions with the Yogyakarta City Police Chief have been held to enforce these measures.
