Mayor of Yogyakarta (Jogja), Hasto Wardoyo, explained that his administration is preparing a scheme for a work-from-home (WFH) policy one day per week following the Idul Fitri holiday. Friday has been selected as the implementation day for WFH among the city government’s ASN.

“To keep work effective, my plan is WFH on Fridays,” said Hasto when contacted by reporters via text message, as reported by detikJogja on Sunday (22/3/2026).

Hasto stated that his side will extend working hours from Monday to Thursday. “And on regular days, I will extend office hours until the afternoon to cover the shortfall from one WFH day,” he added.

It is known that the government will implement a WFH policy of one day per week following budget efficiency measures due to the Middle East conflict. The government hopes that the WFH policy will also be adopted by private companies, not just the public sector.

“With the high oil prices, efficiency in working time is needed. Flexibility for work from home will be opened. One day in five working days,” said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto after a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Thursday (19/3).

Regarding the timeframe for this policy, Airlangga will adjust it to the developing situation in the Middle East. “We’ll see the situation later. The oil price situation, the war situation. So we’ll follow the developing situation,” he said.
