Yogyakarta Charter Affirms ANTARA's Commitment to Safeguarding National Information Space

Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Yogyakarta Charter, a result of the 2026 National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of Perum LKBN ANTARA, affirms the commitment of all ANTARA personnel to maintain a healthy, credible national information space that serves the interests of the nation.

Teguh Priyanto, Chairman of the ANTARA 2026 Rakernas Committee, stated that the charter emerged from three days of reflection and discussion regarding ANTARA’s position, role, and responsibility within a constantly evolving information landscape. “From that awareness, the Yogyakarta Charter was born—a shared commitment document drafted and agreed upon by all Rakernas participants,” Teguh said during the presentation of the meeting’s results in Yogyakarta on Friday.

In addition to the charter, the 2026 Rakernas also produced the ‘ANTARA Personnel Commitment to Safeguarding National Information Sovereignty’ amidst the heavy flow of information and the threat of disinformation. “Information sovereignty is the nation’s ability to ensure that the public receives accurate, verified information based on national interests, while being protected from disinformation, narrative manipulation, and various forms of information distortion that could disrupt national unity,” he explained.

He added that all ANTARA personnel have expressed their readiness to maintain public trust, strengthen information reach to the furthest corners of the country, and present narratives that bolster optimism, unity, and the aspirations of ‘Indonesia Emas 2045’. “This meeting is not merely an annual agenda, but a momentum for consolidation to ensure that all ANTARA personnel share the same vision,” he said.

According to Benny, ANTARA must continue to strengthen its role as a key actor in the national information ecosystem, utilising its network of regional bureaus as its primary strength in reaching communities throughout Indonesia.
