Yogyakarta Airport Rail Serves 12,000 Passengers During Peak Return Flow
Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The management of Kereta Api Bandara in the Yogyakarta region recorded 12,000 passengers using this public transport service on the peak of the Lebaran 2026 return flow on Sunday (29/3).
“Public interest in using public transport during the 2026 Lebaran Transport period is quite high; on 29 March 2026, the number of KA Bandara users reached up to 12,000 passengers, making it the peak of the return flow in the Yogyakarta region,” said KAI Bandara President Director Porwanto Handry Nugroho in a written statement received in Yogyakarta on Monday.
According to him, of that total, users of the Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) PSO service were recorded at 7,500 passengers, while the YIA Xpress service reached 4,500 passengers.
“This high number demonstrates public trust in KA Bandara as a reliable, comfortable, and punctual mode of transport for journeys to and from the airport,” he said.
He stated that cumulatively, during the period from 13 March to 29 March 2026, the total number of KA Bandara users in the Yogyakarta region reached 180,000 passengers.
This figure reflects an increase in public mobility during the Lebaran Transport period, especially in the return flow phase.
“We see a significant increasing trend in this year’s return flow, particularly on 29 March, which became its peak. This shows that KA Bandara remains the primary choice for the public in supporting safe and efficient travel,” he said.
Porwanto said that KAI Bandara continues to commit to providing the best service to customers through improvements in facilities, travel punctuality, and ease of access to the airport.
“In addition, coordination with all stakeholders is continuously carried out to ensure smooth operations during the Lebaran Transport period,” he said.
KAI Bandara also urges all passengers to always keep their belongings, arrive early at the station, and take advantage of the digital ticketing service where KA Bandara tickets can be booked starting from H-7 departure through the KA Bandara application so that travel during the Lebaran Transport period can proceed smoothly and comfortably.
