Yogya to get better schools

YOGYAKARTA: The Yogyakarta administration is making plans to convert four senior high schools in the city into international- standard schools.

The senior high schools are SMU 1 and SMU 3 in Yogyakarta; SMU Muhammadiyah II Yogyakarta and SMU I Kasihan Bantul.

Yogyakarta provincial education office director Sugito said on Friday that the move was in line with the National Education System Law, which required every province to have at least one international-standard school at each level.

"This step is only the first. It will be followed later by further steps at the other levels," he said. -- JP
