Yogya sultan visits Czech Republic

JAKARTA: The Yogyakarta governor, Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, is
leading a delegation to the Czech Republic to strengthen
cooperation between Yogyakarta and that country, the Czech
Embassy in Jakarta announced on Thursday.

"The sultan and his delegation arrived in Prague on Monday at
the invitation of Prague Mayor Pavel Bem and will leave the Czech
Republic on Friday. During his stay in Prague, the sultan met the
President of the Czech Senate, Premysl Sobotka, Mayor Bem and
several CEOs of Czech companies," the Czech Embassy's Charge
d'Affaires ad interim Jiri Vobis told The Jakarta Post.

Jiri said the sultan was scheduled to meet Czech Minister of
Transportation Milan Simonovsky on Thursday. The Czech Ambassador to
Indonesia Jaroslav Vesely, who is presently on vacation in
Prague, accompanied the Indonesian delegation during their
meetings with their Czech counterparts.

Yogyakarta -- the center of Javanese culture -- hopes to forge
collaboration with the Czech Republic, particularly in the
transportation sector. -- JP
