YLKI Supports 100 GW Solar Development for Energy Diversification

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) supports the government’s steps to strengthen new and renewable energy, including the discourse on developing 100 GW of Solar Power Plants (PLTS) for energy diversification.

“This policy should be viewed as a strategic effort to provide alternative energy for consumers so that the public has choices and does not rely entirely on a single source of national electricity supply,” said YLKI Executive Secretary Rio Priambodo in a statement received in Jakarta on Sunday.

According to Rio, energy diversification must be directed towards strengthening the position of consumers, creating energy independence, and simultaneously increasing the resilience of the national electricity system.

Renewable energy is not merely an environmental issue, but also a component of consumer protection.

Rio stated that electricity is not just a commodity, but a basic necessity for the community that supports life, education, health, public services, and economic activities.

“When there is a power outage, it is not just the flow of energy that is disrupted, but also the quality of life and the certainty of consumer rights,” he said.

“Energy is the lifeblood of existence. A strong nation is not only one capable of producing electricity, but a nation capable of ensuring its people receive reliable, fair, and sustainable energy,” added Rio.
