JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Director of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI), Muhammad Isnur, has refuted statements from the Military Audit Service claiming that the motive behind the acid splashing attack on KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus was personal revenge by the perpetrators.

“It is clear that the Andrie Yunus case involves no personal issues with the actors involved. What he did was critical work on the legislative process,” Isnur said when confirmed by Kompas.com on Thursday (16/4/2026).

“Critical work against remilitarisation that is very dangerous for democracy,” he emphasised.

The statement is also seen as localising the involvement in the acid splashing case to just four perpetrators.

“It also closes the door on who ordered it, who commanded it, who funded it,” Isnur stated.

Previously, the Head of the Military Audit Service II-07 Jakarta, Colonel Chk Andri Wijaya, revealed the motive behind the acid splashing action against Andrie Yunus.

He added that the motive related to personal revenge would be explained in more detail during the reading of the indictment.

The reading of the indictment in this case is scheduled for 29 April 2026.

Furthermore, Andri responded to the possibility of additional suspects emerging in the trial process.

He explained that the authority over the case has now been handed over to the Military Court II-08 after the file was submitted by the audit service.

“However, if during the proof in the trial there are additions or whatever, further investigation will still be conducted. If there is a civilian suspect, it will be split,” he revealed.

“This is in accordance with the procedural law and SOP from the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia; we must still carry it out,” Andri said.

In this case, four TNI BAIS soldiers are the defendants: Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetia, Lieutenant Sami Lakka, Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, and Sergeant Edi Sudarko.
