The Gold Village Programme, implemented with support from the Indonesia Setara Foundation (YIS) and Inotek, has successfully enhanced the capacity and competitiveness of community business groups. One achievement by the Mekar Lestari Farmers Group (Poktan) and KUB Cagar Alam is their entry into international export markets.

Through a series of mentoring and business capacity-building activities, both groups have experienced significant improvements in business management, product innovation, and market access expansion. The programme focuses on empowering rural entrepreneurs to develop independently and sustainably.

YIS Founder Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that during implementation, participants received various soft skills and business capacity-building workshops. The curriculum covered institutional strengthening of business groups, marketing optimisation, business planning, and ‘How to Pitch Your Business’ training.

‘Additionally, participants were introduced to coffee value-added processing technology through cascara production—a herbal tea made from dried coffee cherry husks. This innovation adds value to agricultural products and opens new market opportunities,’ Sandiaga said in a press release in Jakarta on Monday, 25 May 2026.
