The development of coffee culture is driving consumers to become increasingly interested in what lies behind every cup. Beyond just the type of drink or strength of flavour, there is a growing curiosity regarding bean origin, processing methods, and the flavour profiles influenced by the geographical conditions of a region. This trend is driving the popularity of single-origin coffee among the wider public. One origin with a long history in global coffee development is Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia, renowned for its floral, citrus, and caramel notes.

An exploration of these characteristics has arrived through the Master S.O.E (Single Origin Espresso) Series Yirgacheffe Ethiopia, introduced by Tomoro Coffee on 27 August 2026 at Padel Arena Jakarta. The launch involved Tomoro Coffee’s brand ambassador, Muhammad Aga.

Yirgacheffe is the latest addition to the Master S.O.E Series’ journey in introducing coffee characters from various regions of the world. Previously, the series has explored several origins, including Kintamani, Papua New Guinea, Brazil, and Colombia.

Every origin possesses a character influenced by various factors, ranging from geographical conditions and the environment in which the coffee plants grow to the bean processing methods. These differences result in diverse flavour experiences while bringing the unique stories of each producing region.

In the Yirgachefe Ethiopia series, the single-origin beans used feature a blend of floral, citrus, and caramel notes. These characteristics have been developed through specific blends within the Master S.O.E Series line.

Ethiopia is known for its strong historical connection to the development of global coffee and remains a vital region in the history of Arabica coffee. The diversity of coffee characters from various regions within the country also makes it a significant area in the development of specialty coffee.

The Master S.O.E Series Yirgacheffe Ethiopia is available in three options: Master S.O.E Americano, Master S.O.E Latte, and Master S.O.E Breve Latte, with prices starting from Rp28,000.

Head of Marketing at Tomoro Coffee, Linda Hendra, stated that the latest series is expected to serve as a way for the public to become more familiar with specialty coffee.

“We hope the presence of the Master S.O.E Series Yirgacheffe Ethiopia can provide a new experience for the Indonesian people to get to know specialty coffee in a more accessible and enjoyable way. We continue to open opportunities for more people to recognise the character and story behind every cup of coffee,” said Linda.

The launch of Yirgacheffe Ethiopia also involved Muhammad Aga, the World Espresso Championship 2025. His presence brings the perspective of both a barista and a coffee enthusiast to the development and exploration of this single-origin coffee.

According to Aga, high-quality coffee should be accessible to more people, including those living outside major cities. He hopes that the expanding network of coffee shops will help introduce quality coffee options to communities in various regions.

“My hope is for people out there to be able to obtain higher quality coffee. Everyone deserves a good coffee, and great coffee is for everyone. This delicious coffee must be more easily accessible, so that the quality coffee we drink in big cities can also be enjoyed in various remote areas,” said Aga.

The arrival of Yirgacheffe Ethiopia in the Master S.O.E Series demonstrates that the exploration of single-origin coffee is moving closer to everyday consumption. For consumers, a cup of coffee is no longer just a beverage choice, but an opportunity to learn about the origins, flavour profiles, and stories attached to every coffee bean.
