Yili Indonesia Invites Bandung Students to Care for the Environment Through Plastic Recycling Education

PT Yili Indonesia Dairy is taking action on plastic waste by launching a corporate social responsibility programme focused on recycling and education. The initiative, a collaboration with Yayasan Bening Saguling through the BeningCycle programme, involves placing plastic waste dropboxes in 10 schools across Bandung. Students can collect plastic waste, which the foundation then processes into useful items such as chairs, tables, and other recycled products. The programme also includes educational sessions and training on plastic waste management for students at primary, junior high, and senior high school levels, aiming to foster environmental awareness from a young age. President Director of PT Yili Indonesia Dairy, Yu Miao, stated that the programme is part of the company’s responsibility to support a better environment and represents a tangible contribution to waste control efforts in Indonesia. He noted that as a company producing ice cream, Yili recognises the need to balance plastic packaging with responsible action. The initiative supports government programmes on waste control and encourages community involvement, particularly among the youth, in creating sustainable habits. Muhammad Dzikri Fauzan, a representative of Yayasan Bening Saguling, expressed appreciation for the support, highlighting the importance of introducing plastic waste management directly to children and teenagers. The programme was also welcomed by the Secretary of the West Bandung Regency Environmental Agency, who emphasised the importance of building environmental habits from an early age. The initiative coincides with Ice Cream Day on 20 July and National Children’s Day on 23 July, adding broader meaning to the enjoyment of ice cream by encouraging children and schools to protect the planet through simple, positive recycling habits.
