Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) is ready to serve 26 flying groups (kloter) of prospective Hajj pilgrims for YIA’s inaugural Hajj embarkation, originating from the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) and Central Java (Jateng). “The first kloter of prospective Hajj pilgrims from DIY and Jateng for 2026/1447 H was departed on 21 April 2026 via YIA at 23.40 WIB,” said General Manager of Yogyakarta International Airport, Muhammad Thamrin, in Kulon Progo, DI Yogyakarta, on Wednesday. The prospective Hajj pilgrims departed from Yogyakarta to Medina using Garuda Indonesia flight GA 6501, an Airbus A330-300 aircraft. “This journey of the prospective Hajj pilgrims marks the first at Yogyakarta International Airport,” he said. The 360 prospective Hajj pilgrims from Kloter 1, originating from Kulon Progo Regency, arrived at YIA and were welcomed by the CEO of Regional IV PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, Rahadian D Yogisworo, accompanied by General Manager of Yogyakarta International Airport, Muhammad Thamrin. “We are grateful that the Kloter 1 prospective Hajj pilgrims from Kulon Progo Regency have departed smoothly to the holy land,” he said. For this year’s first Hajj flight operations, YIA will handle the departure of 26 Hajj kloter to Jeddah and Medina. The Hajj pilgrims will depart from 21 April 2026 until 20 May 2026. “These 26 kloter originate from several regions, namely Kulon Progo Regency, Sleman, Bantul, Gunungkidul, and Yogyakarta City (DIY), then from Magelang City, Kebumen Regency, Magelang Regency, Temanggung, Wonosobo, and Purworejo Regency,” he said. He stated that PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia Yogyakarta International Airport has conducted various preparations and coordination with related agencies and stakeholders such as the Region III Airport Authority, Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, TNI/Polri, Perum LPPNPI, Immigration Office, Customs Office, Health Quarantine Centre, Garuda Indonesia, Gapura Angkasa, and others to ensure that all inaugural Hajj flight operations at YIA this year run smoothly. “We hope that all operational activities of the inaugural Hajj flights at YIA can proceed smoothly and the pilgrims return to the homeland in good health and become accepted Hajj pilgrims,” he said. He hopes that this Hajj embarkation effort becomes an important and sustainable step for DIY, particularly YIA. “We are committed to serving wholeheartedly, providing safe, comfortable, and healthy services for the pilgrims’ journeys and supporting the series of Hajj travels at YIA,” he explained.
