YIA completes land certificate transfers with zero-rupiah BPHTB tax
Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) in Kulon Progo, Special Region of Yogyakarta, has successfully completed 100 per cent of the process for transferring land/plot certificates with a Land and Building Transfer Duty (BPHTB) rate of zero rupiah.
Muhammad Thamrin, General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia for the YIA Branch Office, expressed his appreciation in Kulon Progo on Thursday for the synergy between the airport management and the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Provincial Government.
“This is a significant achievement for YIA. We recognise that this airport is not merely transport infrastructure, but part of a National Strategic Project (PSN) that requires strong legal certainty for its assets,” Thamrin stated following the certificate handover ceremony.
Thamrin explained that the acceleration of the certification process was made possible because YIA’s land is contiguous, unlike many other airports where land parcels are fragmented. He also noted that this success was supported by the full commitment of the Angkasa Pura Indonesia team at both the regional and head office levels.
Beyond legality, Thamrin addressed YIA’s operational dynamics following the improvement of land infrastructure connectivity on Java Island. He acknowledged a decrease in domestic passenger volume due to increasingly integrated alternative transport modes. However, he emphasised that the international aviation sector has shown high resilience, with trends remaining stable.
“For international routes, passenger movement remains stable at 1.1 million people. We are committed to continuously optimising asset management to support safe, comfortable, and competitive airport operations,” he said.
The Vice Regent of Kulon Progo, Ambar Purwoko, affirmed that the zero-rupiah BPHTB policy for YIA underwent strict legal procedures and aligns with Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) regulations. According to Ambar, the process, which previously faced administrative hurdles, was finally resolved through effective cross-sectoral collaboration.
“Today we are witnessing the first airport in Indonesia with zero-rupiah BPHTB in accordance with Kemendagri regulations. This proves that proper commitment, collaboration, and coordination can produce concrete solutions. This is a collective success,” concluded Ambar.
The successful completion of this certification is expected to serve as a positive precedent for the asset management of other National Strategic Projects in Indonesia, while strengthening the foundation for the development of the aerotropolis area in the Kulon Progo region and its surroundings.
