YG Entertainment set to debut new boy group
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Korean entertainment company YG Entertainment has said it is preparing a new boy group with a targeted debut this year. As cited by Korea Herald on Wednesday, YG said in a post on the company’s official blog that the new boy group is targeted to debut in autumn 2026. YG Entertainment last launched a new idol group six years ago, when TREASURE debuted. Founder and executive producer Yang Hyun-suk has signalled indications of the project to form a new group last year. He said the agency had conducted a thorough evaluation of the pool of male trainees being considered for debut. “We are continuing to explore and analyse these trainees. I hope to launch a new team next year,” Yang said at the time. Since 2025, Yang has pushed internal reforms at the company, including efforts to speed up album production and to increase the discovery of new intellectual property. “We will continue to refine our preparations and bring exciting news throughout this year,” the company said. BABYMONSTER is scheduled to release a new mini album (EP) in May and its second full album in autumn this year. The group is also scheduled to begin its second world tour, covering South America, Europe, and Oceania, in June 2026. TREASURE is scheduled to release a new EP in June, which, according to Yang, will include hip-hop music.
