Yesterday's Recap: Consolidation of State-owned Airlines to Cocoa Industry
Danantara and the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) are driving the consolidation of state-owned airlines, with plans to merge Pelita Air into Garuda Indonesia. Head of the SOE Supervisory Board and Danantara Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria stated the merger aims to strengthen the national aviation industry, with Garuda Indonesia serving as the holding company.
Separately, the Ministry of Industry reported that Indonesia’s cocoa processing industry plays a pivotal role in Asia, contributing 49% of the region’s total processing volume. Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the government is committed to strengthening the competitiveness of the national cocoa processing industry as part of downstreaming efforts to position Indonesia as a global cocoa grinding hub.
In other economic news, the Ministry of Forestry announced that three national park technical implementation units have adopted the Public Service Agency financial management pattern to promote sustainable conservation. Additionally, Pos Indonesia reported a bookkeeping adjustment of Rp9 trillion for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 periods as part of its financial clean-up and recovery process. Indonesia and Turkey also agreed on a Joint Action Plan for 2026-2027 to strengthen collaboration in the labour sector.
