Yesterday's politics: VP's visit to Asmat and Cabinet Secretary Teddy's initiative

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka took time to dialogue with women from the Asmat tribe and gave autographs to children during a visit to Agats District in Asmat Regency, South Papua, on Sunday. Gibran visited the Asmat Museum and the construction site of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross Diocese of Agats. During his visit, a child named Herlina approached him to ask for an autograph.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka stated he continues to advocate for the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals programme in frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged regions, such as Asmat Regency, with potential cooperation with local churches. “We need to highlight here that we are fighting for the President’s priority programmes in 3T areas. The free nutritious meals programme, for example, must be championed here in Asmat,” Gibran told reporters after inspecting the Sago Field School in Asmat Regency on Sunday.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming ensured the strengthening of health services in frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged regions, including accelerating the upgrade of Perpetua H. Safanpo Regional Hospital in Asmat Regency, South Papua, to Type C status. During his visit to Agats District on Sunday, Gibran said strengthening health services is part of implementing President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes to deliver quality and equitable basic services to regions categorised as 3T.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming stated the government supports strengthening local food commodities in each region, as already carried out through the Sago Field School in Agats District, Asmat Regency, South Papua. Speaking during his visit to Asmat Regency on Sunday, the Vice President said the government is ready to cooperate with community and religious leaders to ensure programmes are implemented well.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya initiated the Setkab Gengs Ideas Competition as a platform for Cabinet Secretariat employees to submit ideas, innovations, and policy solutions supporting the government’s priority programmes and President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision. According to a statement from the Cabinet Secretariat in Jakarta on Sunday, 106 proposals from various work units participated in the competition.
