Various political events have recently come into focus, including the news that teachers with Government Employees with Work Agreement (PPPK) status may participate in the CPNS teacher selection process starting in 2027, and the government’s plan to form a cross-agency team to evaluate data regarding the placement of citizens within welfare decile groups.
PPPK Teachers May Join CPNS Selection Starting 2027
The government is providing an opportunity for teachers with Government Employees with Work Agreement (PPPK) status to participate in the CPNS teacher selection process, which is set to begin in 2027.
“Teachers with PPPK status will be given the opportunity to participate in the selection to become CPNS teachers, with the process commencing in early 2027,” said the Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, as quoted from an official statement in Jakarta on Monday.
Qodari stated that this opportunity is part of an agreement between the government and the House of Representatives (DPR) regarding the restructuring of PPPK teacher employment status, which covers three main aspects.
Gus Kikin Elected as General Chairman of PBNU 2026-2031
The caretaker of Pondok Pesantren Tebuireng, Jombang, East Java, K.H. Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, also known as Gus Kikin, has been appointed as the General Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) for the 2026-2031 term.
The appointment was made through a deliberation by the Ahlul Halli wal ’Aqdi (AHWA) council during the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress at the Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School, Tambakberas, Jombang, on Monday. Gus Kikin’s name received approval from the elected Rais Aam.
“By consensus, it was decided to elect K.H. Abdul Hakim, or commonly known as Gus Kikin, as the General Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board for the 2026-2031 term,” said one of the AHWA council clerics, K.H. Anwar Iskandar, in Jombang.
Prabowo Receives NU Membership Card at Closing of 35th NU Congress
President Prabowo Subianto has officially received his Nahdlatul Ulama membership card (KTA) from the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), also known as Kartanu, during the closing of the 35th NU Congress on Monday.
In an online broadcast followed from Jakarta on Monday, President Prabowo was seen receiving the card from Kiai Haji Miftahul Akhyar, the elected Rais Aam of the PBNU for the 2026-2031 term, and K.H. Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, the newly appointed General Chairman.
“It is a great honour for me to be invited for a second time,” said President Prabowo during his opening remarks at the closing of the 35th NU Congress at the Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School, Tambakberas, Jombang, East Java, on Monday.
Regarding the ‘bloated’ Cabinet, Prabowo Compares Indonesia and Timor-Leste
President Prabowo Subianto compared the proportion of Indonesia’s cabinet structure with that of Timor-Leste to explain that a high number of ministries does not automatically indicate an inefficient government.
In his speech at the closing of the 35th NU Congress in Jombang, East Java, on Monday, Prabowo responded to claims by several parties who had previously labelled the ministries and agencies in his administration as a ‘bloated’ cabinet.
“The cabinet I have assembled has been called a bloated, inefficient cabinet,” said Prabowo in a speech quoted from an official broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta.
Deputy Minister of State Secretariat: Cross-Agency Team to Evaluate Decile Data
The Deputy Minister of the State Secretariat, Bambang Eko Suhariyanto, stated that the government will form a cross-agency team to evaluate data related to the placement of citizens within welfare decile groups.
“A team will certainly be formed between agencies, involving BPS (Statistics Indonesia), Bappenas (National Development Planning Agency), and so on,” said Bambang at the Parliament Building Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday.
Bambang noted that the evaluation of the data would involve the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas). He mentioned that the government is still evaluating the basis for the determination of such data.
