Former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim was scheduled to undergo the first appeal hearing for the Chromebook procurement case at the DKI Jakarta High Court on Wednesday. Nadiem’s advocate, Zaid Mushafi, stated that in the submitted appeal memorandum, his team criticised various judicial considerations raised in the Chromebook case ruling that implicated his client. ‘In our appeal, we are requesting the high court panel of judges to retry the case, to reopen the facts that were considered by the first-level judges,’ Zaid said when met after submitting the appeal memorandum.
National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo responded to rumours of a presidential letter regarding his replacement from the position of Police Chief. Sigit stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that the decision to replace the leader of the Bhayangkara Corps is the prerogative right of President Prabowo Subianto. He said he would leave the replacement decision to the President. ‘That is the President’s prerogative. So, for us soldiers, whatever is decided, we carry out. We just wait,’ he said.
Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas stated that total investment in the field of intellectual property rights worldwide has reached nearly 100 trillion US dollars. He said this valuation comes from only the 500 largest technology companies in the world, including Indonesia. ‘This figure is very high,’ Supratman said at the 2026 National Intellectual Property Coordination Forum in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The Corruption Eradication Commission seized cash amounting to 150,000 US dollars from searches at two locations related to the development of a corruption case implicating former Head of the Madya Banjarmasin Tax Service Office, Mulyono Purwo Wijoyo. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained that 110,000 US dollars of the total cash seized came from a search of a tax officer in Bandung, West Java. ‘Last week, investigators conducted a search at the location of a tax officer in the Bandung area. From that search, investigators found evidence in the form of cash amounting to 110,000 US dollars,’ Budi said at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The legal team for suspect Febrie Adriansyah, a former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, filed a pretrial motion on Wednesday afternoon regarding his designation as a suspect by the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police in an alleged money laundering case. ‘This afternoon, we plan to register the pretrial motion,’ said Febrie Adriansyah’s legal counsel, Febri Diansyah, to reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday. He stated that the pretrial motion filing is an effort to test the ongoing legal process.
