Jakarta (ANTARA) – A string of criminal incidents occurred in the Jakarta Special Capital Region on Tuesday (19 May), ranging from three people being named as suspects in a case of alleged corruption in the procurement of sewing machines worth Rp9 billion for the East Jakarta Sub-Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (Sudin PPKUKM Jaktim), to a case of molestation involving a primary school pupil.

The East Jakarta State Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari Jakarta Timur) has named three individuals as suspects in the alleged corruption case concerning the procurement of sewing machines for Sudin PPKUKM Jaktim, valued at Rp9 billion. “The Investigation Team of Pidsus at Kejari Jakarta Timur has summoned and examined three witnesses in the case of alleged corruption in the provision of production facilities in fostering new industrial entrepreneurship,” said Head of Kejari Jakarta Timur Topik Gunawan in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Police Deputy Commissioner Kompol Nunu Suparmi, head of the Women and Children Protection and Anti-Trafficking Unit (PPA-PPO) of Metro Jakarta Barat Police, said in Jakarta on Tuesday that the perpetrator had known the victim since she was five years old.
