Yesterday: Vocational programme selection to rare earth magnet factory

Several economic events occurred on Wednesday (12/8/2026) that remain relevant for review on Thursday morning.

These include the selection process for the 2026 National Vocational Training programme and Indonesia’s plan to build a permanent magnet factory from rare earth elements (LTJ).

Stage 4 selection for the 2026 National Vocational Training programme begins on 13 August. The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) announced that the selection process for Stage 4 of the 2026 National Vocational Training programme will run from 13 to 19 August.

Kemnaker has prepared access to training and employment opportunities for drug abuse survivors who have completed rehabilitation.

The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) is strengthening oversight of budget implementation for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme by utilising the network of Regional Offices (Kanwil) of the Directorate General of Treasury (DJPb) across Indonesia.

Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) Maman Abdurrahman said that his ministry will soon sign a Ministerial Decree (Kepmen) regarding a 50 percent service fee discount for MSMEs selling local products on marketplaces.

Indonesia will build a permanent magnet factory from rare earth elements. Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Danantara Sigit Puji Santosa revealed that Indonesia will build a permanent magnet factory from rare earth elements (LTJ), with construction to begin in the near future.

“God willing, by 2028, permanent magnets will be available in Indonesia and so on. This is an integrated unit that we are building all the way to transportation vehicles,” said Sigit at the MINDialogue event themed “Commodities for the Nation: Strategy for Strengthening Mineral Reserves for Indonesia’s Economic Stability and Sovereignty” held in Jakarta on Wednesday.
