Yesterday: SPPI military training halted to HUT Ke-81 RI logo unveiled
The Ministry of Defence has halted the military basic training (latsarmil) for Sarjana Penggerak Pembangunan Indonesia (SPPI) participants, who are prospective managers of the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDKMP) and Merah Putih Fishermen Cooperatives (KNMP). Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, Head of the Defence Information Bureau at the Ministry of Defence Secretariat General, stated that the ministry is adjusting its activity approach. The terminology and implementation of activities are now directed towards State Defence and Managerial Preparation Training, rather than latsarmil.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro announced the official logo for the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, chosen directly by the public through a poll conducted by the Ministry of State Secretariat from 24 to 28 June 2026. The winning logo was created by Fajar Novario from Padang, West Sumatra. A Visual Communication Design graduate of Padang State University, he is the co-founder of Auman Design Bureau and the initiator of Padang Desain Area.
In other news, the Army Special Forces Command (Kopassus) conducted a security exercise at the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK), a national strategic project in Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, after receiving Kopassus Commander Lieutenant General TNI Djon Afriandi, said the one-day exercise was part of security measures at the national strategic project site.
Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, along with other DPR leaders, convened the National Economic Council, Bank Indonesia, the Ministry of Finance, and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources to discuss economic growth and mitigation efforts. Dasco noted the coordination meeting focused on solutions needed to anticipate recent developments.
Finally, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian urged all regional heads to take immediate anticipatory steps against the potential impacts of El Niño, which is forecast to occur from July to October 2026. He requested that regional heads hold internal meetings involving local disaster management agencies, agriculture offices, and irrigation offices to prepare for impacts at the provincial, district, and city levels.
