Jakarta (ANTARA) - Several strategic policies coloured the political channel on Friday (1/5), ranging from the government’s move through Danantara entering the shares of ride-hailing app operators to press down commission cuts to various labour policies announced by President Prabowo Subianto during the International Labour Day commemoration at Monas. Among them, the ratification of international conventions for worker protection, cuts to ride-hailing cuts, and the establishment of a task force for layoff mitigation. This series of policies reflects a new direction in worker protection that has caught readers’ attention and is worth exploring further. President Prabowo Subianto enacted Presidential Regulation Number 27 of 2026, which slashes the income deduction for online motorcycle taxi drivers by app companies to eight per cent, in line with his statement that the cut must be below 10 per cent. President Prabowo Subianto announced the establishment of the Layoff Mitigation and Labour Welfare Task Force through Presidential Decree Number 10 of 2026 as a government step to strengthen worker protection.
