President Prabowo Subianto met people who previously lived along the railway tracks of Senen Station at their new housing in Jakarta on Friday evening. “This evening I met residents at their new housing. They previously lived in the area along the railway tracks of Senen Station, Jakarta,” President Prabowo Subianto wrote. “May this new house become a more decent, safe, and comfortable place to live for all families,” the President added.

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has succeeded in recovering 71 course and training institutions affected by floods in Aceh and North Sumatra provinces some time ago as an effort to strengthen non-formal education and vocational education services. Director General of Secondary Education and Special Education at the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Tatang Muttaqin said the natural disasters in the two regions not only affected the physical condition of the institutions but also the continuity of the learning process. “If we review the past, the natural disasters in Aceh and North Sumatra damaged buildings and submerged practice equipment and tested the continuity of learning at the course and training institutions. However, these institutions are not only about physical buildings that were affected, but also spaces of hope for the nation’s children to gain skills. In any difficult condition, we must continue to ensure quality education for all, and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has distributed quality improvement assistance amounting to Rp4.18 billion to 71 course and training institutions,” Tatang said.
Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, spewed volcanic ash approximately 1,000 metres or 1 kilometre above the peak in an eruption that lasted six minutes on Friday (28/8) morning. Head of the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Lana Saria reported that the eruption occurred at 07.35 WITA with a thick ash column blowing towards the southwest and west. “This eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 14.8 mm and a duration of approximately six minutes and four seconds,” she said.
