Yesterday: PM Modi's Visit, Hajj Fee Proposal, and High Wave Warnings

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pledged that Indonesians will have easier access to quality, affordable medicines from India as part of bilateral health cooperation. In a joint statement with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, PM Modi said the agreement signed that day would make Indian pharmaceuticals more available to Indonesian citizens.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has proposed a 2027 Hajj pilgrimage cost (BPIH) of Rp107.34 million per person, a significant increase from the previous year’s Rp87.4 million. Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf told the House of Representatives’ Commission VIII that the adjustment was influenced by factors including the rupiah exchange rate assumption, rising flight costs, accommodation in Makkah and Madinah, land transportation, and Masyair services.

In Central Java, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Ahmad Yani Semarang has intensified early warnings for residents of the north coast, including Pekalongan City, regarding potential tidal flooding. The agency’s Operational Managerial Team Chair, Giyarto, explained that the rising sea levels are influenced by the moon’s gravitational pull and urged the public to remain vigilant.

Separately, BMKG issued an early warning for high waves expected in several Indonesian waters from 7 to 10 July. The Acting Director of Maritime Meteorology, Agie Wandala Putra, stated that the potential for high waves is triggered by significant wind patterns in both the northern and southern regions of the archipelago, with wind speeds ranging from 3 to 35 knots.
