Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa targets the addition of a new layer (tariff tier) in the tobacco products excise (CHT) or cigarette excise tariff structure, starting from May 2026.
“We want it to be in place by May at the latest, so that revenue comes to us and I can truly prohibit illegal cigarettes,” said Purbaya to reporters at the Attorney General’s Office, Jakarta, on Friday.

Industry Minister (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita is encouraging the diversification of Indonesia’s steel export markets by targeting the Middle East region and developing industrial countries, to reduce dependence on a single main destination country and strengthen national industrial resilience.

Public Works Minister (PU) Dody Hanggodo said that the Work From Home (WFH) policy on Fridays for Civil Servants (ASN) is not implemented in the Ministry of PU environment due to the nature of tasks that require direct presence.
Dody explained that the Ministry of PU is not only tasked with building infrastructure but also serves as part of the main team in disaster management along with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), and Regional Disaster Management Agencies (BPBD), in various regions of Indonesia.
