Jakarta (ANTARA) - Various economic events were reported by ANTARA News Agency on Thursday (11/6), ranging from the restructuring of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme to the optimisation of alternative oil sources from Africa to address national energy turmoil.

The government has stated its commitment to restructure the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme within one month. Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan stated the commitment to reorganise the programme. “It needs time for restructuring, yes. One month. One month of restructuring,” said Zulhas, as Zulkifli Hasan is familiarly known, during the MBG and Remote SPPG Service Quality Improvement event held at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Office, Jakarta, Thursday.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the plan to reduce the budget for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme will follow the direction of President Prabowo Subianto. When met at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, Purbaya admitted he had received news regarding the plan. However, he did not disclose the amount of the planned budget cut for the MBG programme.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) denied that the rolling blackouts occurring in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) area were due to dwindling coal stocks. “There is no coal shortage,” said ESDM Ministry Spokesperson Dwi Anggia when met at the ESDM Ministry Office, Jakarta, Thursday.

Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan revealed that the number of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) points for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme in frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged (3T) regions has swelled from 2,000 to 8,617 points. “For the 3T regions, the data initially showed 2,000 points, but then it became 8,617 points,” said Zulhas during a press conference on MBG and Remote SPPG Service Quality Improvement held at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Office, Jakarta, Thursday.

To address energy turmoil, Indonesia is relying on alternative oil sources in Africa. Deputy Foreign Minister Arif Havas Oegroseno stated that Indonesia continues to optimise alternative oil sources on the African continent to address national energy turmoil due to tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. “We are now cooperating extensively with Algeria, Nigeria, Angola; many African countries,” said Havas after a working meeting with Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliament Building in Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday.
