Yenny Wahid Appreciates Prabowo's Decision Not to Raise Fuel Prices: The Impact Could Reach the Kitchen

Daughter of Indonesia’s fourth president Abdurrahman Wahid, Yenny Wahid, has expressed appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto’s decision not to raise the price of fuel (BBM). According to her, this is a positive step taken by the government.

“I can represent all the mothers here in appreciating the government’s step and appreciating President Prabowo’s statement yesterday that there will be no increase in fuel prices,” Yenny said to reporters after the halalbihalal at Shinta Wahid’s house in Ciganjur, South Jakarta, on Thursday (2/4/2026).

Yenny stated that fuel prices affect household needs. This is because it influences the needs for staple goods.

“This is certainly very significant for us because it has a major impact on the prices of staple goods, the prices of all necessities, and of course, the primary kitchen needs,” she explained.

Yenny emphasised the importance of the government’s role in anticipating situations that could potentially worsen. Reflecting on the Philippines, she mentioned that the absence of intervention could lead to the imposition of emergency status.

“Because we see that when there is no government intervention, what happens is like in the Philippines, an emergency state is immediately implemented, right? Well, we certainly do not want such conditions to be applied in Indonesia,” she asserted.

Yenny then highlighted the significant contribution of women in facing various challenges. This is the reason for their gathering as a concrete manifestation of contribution and solidarity in addressing the existing situation.

“That’s why all these women are gathering, because women have their intellectual contributions, women have their strength, women have their networks, they have creativity to utilise resources to help our fellow citizens,” she said.
